This category of Storytelling Elements is full of the tools we use as authors and developers to make the story go where we want it to go. These are the background props, the rails for our iron road, the timer on our bomb that you know can't stop with more than a minute on the clock.
These Elements are, in general, the things that make things happen here and now and with these things, rather than the people who do the things or the reasons they do them. For example, your MC wants to stay at home and eat potato chips, but there's a really good chance that the device embedded in his chest will explode in three days, so staying home and eating chips probably isn't the best idea ever.
